Architects and interior designers often want the warmth and grain of real wood without the time, waste, and variation that come with traditional veneering and on-site finishing. Raw veneer still has to be pressed, stained, and varnished. Printed wood-effect laminates can look consistent, but they rarely have the depth of genuine timber.

ALPIready sits between those two options. It is a decorative prefinished wood surface made from real wood veneer, finished in the factory, and supplied ready for application. For furniture, joinery, and interior cladding, that means the look of timber with a faster, more controlled route from specification to install.

G-Tex now supplies the ALPIready collection as a specialised wooden laminate range: 29 patterns, from oak veneer and walnut veneer through to tropical-inspired and designer finishes, all FSC® certified and made using wood from responsibly managed forests.

What Is ALPIready?

At its simplest, wood veneer is a thin layer of real wood applied to a substrate so that furniture, joinery, and wall surfaces can carry the appearance of solid timber. ALPIready takes that idea further. Each sheet is made from two layers of ALPIlignum wood veneer, joined with an adhesive film, and varnished on the face, creating a flexible, durable decorative surface around 1.0 mm thick.

Because the face is already finished, ALPIready shortens the time spent on panel fabrication, installation, and varnishing. It can be applied to appropriate substrates and used more like a high-quality wood laminate sheet than a raw veneer that still needs to be worked on site. Matching wood edge-banding is available for each pattern, which helps keep doors, tops, and cladding details visually consistent.

Typical sheet sizes are 2500 x 1250 mm and 3050 x 1300 mm, suiting furniture production as well as larger interior panels. The material is designed to be robust enough for everyday interior use, while remaining flexible enough for a wide range of joinery and cladding details.

A Collection Built Around Real Wood, Not a Printed Effect

The ALPIready range includes 29 patterns. Classic woods sit at one end of the collection: oak veneer in striped, flamed, planked, and grooved versions, walnut veneer in both striped and planked Xilo designs, plus maple, ash, teak, wenge, and ebony. These are the woods that designers reach for when they want a familiar timber language across furniture and interior cladding.

The collection also includes tropical-inspired and designer finishes that would be difficult, or environmentally questionable, to specify as solid endangered hardwoods. ALPI’s industrial process recreates the character of woods long used in fine joinery, without putting pressure on those species in the wild. Designer pieces such as Ettore Sottsass’s red and grey patterns, and Raw Edges’ Wavy Fir in white and blue, give projects a more distinctive surface where a standard oak or walnut veneer would feel too expected.

Each pattern is supplied with a finish chosen to suit the wood. Touch keeps a soft, natural feel; groove emphasises grain and reads closer to raw timber; wax gives a matt, quietly treated appearance; and oil enlivens colour with the sheen of a natural-oil finish. That pairing of pattern and finish is one of the reasons ALPIready can be specified as a complete decorative wood veneer, rather than a blank sheet that still needs a separate coating schedule.

Why Prefinished Wood Veneer Works in Modern Interiors

Real wood veneer remains one of the most effective ways to bring timber into furniture and interiors without the weight, movement, and cost of solid boards. The limitation has always been process: veneering, colour matching, and finishing can slow a project and introduce variation between batches and installers.

ALPIready is designed to reduce that friction. The surface arrives prefinished, so joiners and fabricators can focus on application rather than building up a lacquer system from scratch. For specifiers, that also means the sample in the studio is much closer to the installed result. Light, grain, and sheen can be judged on the actual finish, not on an unfinished veneer sheet.

It is also worth being clear about what ALPIready is not. It is not a printed wood-effect laminate. The face is real wood veneer, so it reflects light, shows grain, and carries the tactile quality of timber. Slight differences of hue between production lots are part of that natural character, as is a gradual change in colour over time when the surface is exposed to light. Those are qualities of wood, not defects in a decorative film.

Used well, prefinished wood veneer panels can therefore do two jobs at once. They give interiors the material honesty of timber, and they give the project team a more predictable route to getting that timber onto furniture, joinery, and walls.

Where ALPIready Can Be Used

ALPIready is intended for interior surfaces. Typical applications include furniture, fitted joinery, and interior cladding, but the same sheets can support a much wider set of decorative uses:
• Furniture surfaces, tables, storage, and loose furniture
• Kitchen, bedroom, and commercial joinery
• Interior wall cladding and decorative feature walls
• Reception desks, counters, and front-of-house joinery
• Hotel interiors, boutiques, and retail fixtures
• Offices, apartment buildings, and residential interiors
• Public spaces and hospitality environments
• Yacht and cruise-ship interior surfaces
• Doors, panels, and veneer wall panels where a real wood face is required

The key is to match the pattern and finish to the role of the surface. A quiet oak or walnut veneer can run across large areas of interior timber cladding without dominating the room. A grooved oak, a striped Xilo walnut, or a designer finish such as Sottsass or Wavy Fir can be used more sparingly as a feature. In both cases, ALPIready gives designers a real wood surface that can sit alongside G-Tex’s metal finishes rather than competing with them.

Specified with Sustainability in Mind

ALPIready is FSC® certified (FSC-C004666) and made using wood from responsibly managed forests. For projects with a documented timber policy, that certification is often as important as the finish itself.

The range also offers a more responsible route to woods that have become difficult to specify as solid material. Tropical-inspired patterns in the collection recreate the look of species historically used in fine furniture, without relying on scarce or endangered hardwoods. Combined with factory finishing, that reduces both material waste and the finishing products required on site.

From a technical standpoint, ALPIready is produced to interior-surface standards, including abrasion resistance, resistance to cold liquids, and lightfastness testing. Formaldehyde emissions comply with Annex 1 of the German Chemical Prohibition Ordinance. As with any wood surface, sheets should be stored and conditioned correctly before application, cleaned with a damp natural-fibre cloth and a neutral detergent, and protected from prolonged direct sunlight where colour stability matters.

Explore ALPIready with G-Tex

ALPIready gives G-Tex a genuine timber offer to sit alongside its stainless steel and aluminium ranges. For architects, designers, and fabricators, it is a way to specify real wood veneer as a finished architectural surface: consistent enough for commercial interiors, distinctive enough for furniture and joinery, and practical enough to apply without a full on-site finishing programme.

Whether the brief calls for a calm oak veneer, a richer walnut veneer, a tropical-inspired pattern, or a designer finish with more graphic character, the collection is built to be sampled, specified, and installed as a complete decorative wood surface.
